Freedom Solar Power is known for expanding its solar initiatives in both commercial and residential solar space.
The Texas-based solar company is taking a step ahead in auto dealer space and has signed a contract with Parkway Honda Auto Group. The aim is to install solar arrays at a Honda dealership in Dover, Ohio.
This on-site power generation project will open doors for upcoming solar installation projects. Honda Parkway is striving to set a standard for Ohio’s auto dealerships as the company is working to become 75% sustainable in the future.
Freedom Solar CEO Bret Biggart said,” We are proud to partner with Honda Parkway in making their business more energy-efficient and helping them to achieve their sustainable goals”.
The partnership between these two companies is turning heads as one of the pioneers in Ohio’s exclusive solar installation in the auto industry.
Freedom commercial Solar panel expertise in Auto Dealing makes them reliable for the contract. They have completed massive solar generation contracts for dealers across the country.
Why Parkway Honda Is Using Solar?
Saving money is one of the major factors when a dealership switches to solar but it has multiple advantages. The contribution to going green and reducing electricity bills also comes with added incentives.
As Mear said several factors played a role in the company’s decision to go with on-site power generation, inducting federal incentives and testimonies from the dealers across the county who have already transitioned to solar.
Biggart also said, “Installing solar is a cost-reduction strategy for entrepreneurial automotive dealers and is growing rapidly among auto dealer space countrywide.”
Often dealerships have abundant roof area which makes it more convenient to install solar arrays, that’s only wise to shed the burden of energy cost by transitioning the business space to solar power.
Why Solar Is Important In Auto Dealership?
According to the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), auto dealerships’ highest operating expense is energy cost. Long working hours, energy-demanding showrooms, and lots add to the electric cost for auto dealers.
Therefore, many dealerships are now turning to solar for an affordable electrical solution and contribute to the idea of going green.
Additionally, solar power is now irresistible for car dealerships due to its long-term electricity reliability.
Honda Parkway’s Partner Mark C Mears said, “From a financial standpoint, going solar was an extremely smart move.” Also, “ Switching to solar power demonstrates our commitment to environmental sustainability, which is an important aspect of our company that we consistently strive towards”.
Mears choose Freedom Solar as their contractor after a referral from a Honda Green Dealer. Honda took this step to aid Honda dealers, whether independently owned or operated in reducing their environmental footprint.
Parkway Honda is a proud participant in the Honda Green Dealer program, therefore, they are also striving to implement green energy initiatives by committing to a cleaner and greener future. They are trying to reduce their energy usage and upgrade their operations towards sustainability.
Honda Parkway’s Green Future With Freedom Solar
Mark C Mear said, “We couldn’t be happier with our decision and we are one of the first dealerships in the county to go solar”.
He further mentioned, “We are very proud to be leading the way within Dover and Tuscarawas County”. This decision was indeed a smart investment as Freedom Solar installed a 7038 sq. ft. solar array that consists of 248 panels.
This array will produce 120.3 kilowatts of on-site power at Parkway Honda and generate more than $378000 worth of 20-year savings.
But That’s not it because this solar carports is also proving crucial in reducing carbon footprint by 91.9 metrics. CO2 emission is one of the major causes of air pollution, global warming, and weather changes, so reducing it through the solar system per year is equal to 1516 planted trees and 20 cars taken off the road.
Mear also seems happy with this contribution to the environment as he said, “By reducing our carbon footprint, we are achieving benefits beyond just reducing our electricity bills.”
Final Analysis
It’s a step-by-step approach and as more automobile dealers are involved in solar energy, more CO2 emission reduction is possible.
This solar array was completed in February and now we can hope for a green future in Dover Ohio. Honda Parkway is not the only dealership to do so as there is a huge list of dealerships to set foot in the solar energy lane.
FAQs
Is Solar the best way to go?
Yes, solar is the best way to go in the future because, with a reduction in fossil fuel resources, electricity is becoming more expensive. Huge bills for both residential and commercial buildings urge consumers to switch to solar panels, which is a beneficial move and is definitely going to save money for the next 25-30 years.
Why can’t we go solar?
People who can not go solar either don’t have space to install solar panels or upfront costs. However, with more progress in the field of solar energy, it will become cheaper and accessible to more people around the world.
Why is solar the future?
Solar is the most reliable and long-term source of energy as it is not going to stop burning for the next million years. Therefore, it is the only wise choice when it comes to the energy crisis as it reduces the reliance on fossil fuels and helps combat climate change.
Do solar panels work at night?
No, solar panels need direct sunlight to produce electricity, therefore they do not work at night. However, you can store solar energy in solar batteries and use it at night and overcast days to reduce the use of grid electricity.
Are solar panels safe?
Yes, solar panels are considered safe and have no apparent health risks if installed and operated correctly. Make sure to have experts for installation and adhere to industry standard regulations for maintenance and inspection.
