Retro Bowl has made online sports games more demanding with its great ride to old American football. People who play football enthusiastically are always looking for new ways to touch the field experience. Therefore, when people were going crazy about Retro Bowl, the developers decided to take a step ahead and drop Retro Bowl College.
Retro Bowl colleges take us back to when colleges revolved around football games. Suppose you think managing professional football players of the retro bowl was difficult. In that case, you have yet to meet the younger college players with adrenaline rush and distractions that can get in the way of their performances.
In Retro Bowl , your job becomes tough with low budgets, 250 college teams, and a passionate crowd that takes losing very seriously, so are you ready to be the head coach of one of the best college teams and get them to win the championship? If you are reading this article, I am sure your answer is yes, so let’s dig into the details of how to play Retro Bowl College.
Retro Bowl College: Starting a Career
Before playing, you go through the interface of the game. The game starts as a retro bowl with minute changes in the appearance and features. The game is highly detailed and requires the same amount of effort as real-life coaching.
The game starts and you are prompted to select from 250 retro bowl college teams. There are three options as you can see in the above picture, Favorite, Strating, and Difficulty. Once you have your dream team to coach you can set the difficulty level. I recommend playing at “Easy” to understand the gameplay better.
As you proceed with the game, you will see your screen where you can manage the team. It is the same as the Retro Bowl original game but you will see some name changes. Here the “Front Office” is renamed to “Athletics Office” and “Hall of Fame” to “Year Book”. You can explore these features to manage the players, staff, and budget.
The player attributes in Retro Bowl College also include GPA. Maintaining a required GPA is very important to be on the team. If a player has a low GPA, they will be suspended from the college and the team.
The budget of this version is tight but so are the salaries of the athlete students. You can go for a 10-player or 12-player roster on the college retro bowl for free which is a piece of good news mainly because users had to pay for the retro bowl unlimited version for a 12-player roster.
The salary cap in this retro bowl spin-off is based on scholarship funds. If you have 50k and 60k to manage a 10 player and 12 player team respectively. Lastly, the graphics of the game are the same as Retro Bowl but it has a more old-school vibe. The sounds, music, and weather settings are also the same in both games.
Retro Bowl College: The Gameplay
The gameplay of both the retro bowl and college is the same however the college version is shorter with 14-game seasons. You can draft your team from the player’s categories such as QB, WR, RB, and Kicker.
Managing the team requires the same attention to attributes, funds, and cc. You will need to improve facilities to make the team better and win as much as possible.
Here, if a player has a low GPA, you can bench him so that he can get back on track and study because if he is not maintaining the required GPA, he will be suspended. The required GPA varies for every college.
At the start of a new season, you will also have to recruit freshmen using the fund to replace the players who left in the previous year or to replace the underperforming ones. Once your earned funds end, they end and you can not do anything about it. However, you can increase your maximum fund limit using coach credits.
Coach Credits are also used to improve the facilities and condition of the players. In short, the gameplay is nothing different so if you have played the professional version, you can easily go through this one.
However, there is one thing worth mentioning. I have played both games and they have many on-field similarities, but in Play Retro Bowl College, the Quarterbacks can change the play formation by calling audible. You will see in the text-based information that pops up at the beginning of every game that as the QB levels up, they can call up to 5 audibles. This feature does not exist in the Retro Bowl online or mobile version.
The Juke move is best to get through the defense and obviously, you can always throw a bullet pass instead of just taping the blue circle on the receiver. Lastly, I have explained the detailed controls of the game in our retro bowl article, you can read it and learn everything about how to play the game, believe me, you will only have to learn one time to understand the controls of both games.
Retro Bowl College: Where I Can Play?
Retro Bowl controls is a mobile-based game that is available for free on Apple Store and Android. If you want to play it on a laptop, PC, or Mac, there are multiple options available. You can download the Retro Bowl College Mod apk from Google and get the unlimited experience of coaching college football.
However, if you are like me, and can not go through the download process, Retro Bowl College unblocked is the best option. You can go for the Retro Bowl College Poki as it is free and easily accessible. There are other sites as well that have unblocked versions of the game, all you have to do is Google.
Final Analysis
Retro Bowl College is an excellent game that reminds many of their college days. The pixelated graphics and the latest tech provide a very smooth overall effect in playing.
You can choose to play it on mobile or PC. Retro Bowl College on a computer starts with a kick-off which I like to feel more involved in the game. The game itself is easy to learn but mastering the championship requires strategy. The popularity of this game is obvious and I think you must play it.
